Russell Crowe in Darren Aronofsky's Biblical Epic 'Noah' Trailer Tease

by
 Noah

So far we've only seen one good picture of Russell Crowe and a look at the sets of Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah (though some stunning photos surfaced and was taken down), but a trailer is coming soon. We're not sure when, but Entertainment Tonight (via The Film Stage) has unveiled a quick tease of the trailer (thankfully, none of their airhead hosts are talking over it this time) showing us about 20 seconds of footage. There's some gorgeous photography here, but the tease doesn't give us a glimpse of any other cast members like Logan Lerman or Emma Watson just yet.

Noah Poster

In Darren Aronofsky's take on the Biblical tale, Noah (Russell Crowe) suffers visions of an apocalyptic deluge, and takes measures to protect his family from the coming flood. Paramount/New Regency are behind the project, being produced by Aronofsky & Protozoa Pictures partner Scott Franklin with Mary Parent. Darren Aronofsky & Ari Handel wrote the script, with a revision by John Logan before production. The cast includes Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Hopkins. At this moment, Paramount Pictures has Noah scheduled for release starting March 28th, 2014

'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' International Poster Treks Into Darkness

by
 Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Though we were a bit unsettled by the first poster for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit hitting just hours after the death of the character's creator Tom Clancy, the trailer for the action thriller looks pretty damn good. Chris Pine leads the film as the title character, which is essentially an origin story of the CIA analyst who turns into a field agent. Now a new international poster for the film has arrived, and we wanted to point it out because like the teaser poster, this one also feels like an unused design for Paramount's Star Trek Into Darkness. We're still looking forward to the film, but remember it's arriving in January next year instead.

Kenneth Branagh directs Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit with a script written by Steven Zaillian, Anthony Peckham, Adam Cozad and David Koepp. The film isn't adapted from a particular Tom Clancy novel, and essentially exists as an original story following Jack Ryan (from films like Patriot Games, The Hunt for Red October and The Sum of All Fears) before he joined the CIA. Branagh is also playing the villain with Keira Knightley as the love interest, Kevin Costner as Ryan's mentor and Colm Feore in a supporting role. Paramount Pictures sends Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit to theaters everywhere on January 17th, 2014.

Four New Character Posters for '300: Rise of an Empire' Go to Battle

by

 300: Rise of an Empire

Following the most recent theatrical trailer, a batch of four new character posters have arrived for 300: Rise of an Empire, and they don't go to much effort to be anymore stylish or unique than the previous posters for the original 300 adaptation from director Zack Snyder. We're hoping that's not the same criticism that will be thrown around for the movie. Obviously, it shouldn't be completely different from the first film, but we hope it's not a carbon copy of the original. Anyway, the posters feature Sullivan Stapleton, an angry painted warrior and the dueling females Lena Headey & Eva Green

300: Rise of an Empire300: Rise of an Empire300: Rise of an Empire300: Rise of an Empire

Noam Murro (Smart People) directs 300: Rise of an Empire (formerly The Battle of Artemisia), based on Frank Miller's upcoming prequel graphic novel Xerxes, and adapted by Zack Snyder (director of 300) and Kurt Johnstad (writer of 300 and Act of Valor). Greek general Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy. Warner Bros is releasing 300: Rise of an Empire everywhere in 3D on March 7th, 2014 early next year.

New Posters for MacFarlane's 'A Million Ways to Die in the West'

Charlize Theron - A Million Ways to Die in the WestSeth MacFarlane - A Million Ways to Die in the West

"Hung Like an Outlaw". These are hilarious. Comedian/filmmaker/actor Seth MacFarlane has debuted a handful of 8 brand new character posters for his upcoming western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West, featuring the movie's cast: Charlize Theron - "Smoking Guns", Amanda Seyfried - "Gold Digger", Neil Patrick Harris - "Lady Tickler", Giovanni Ribisi - "Virgin Territory", Sarah Silverman - "Westward Ho" and Liam Neeson - "Hung Like an Outlaw", plus MacFarlane himself - "Black Sheep". This is fun and ingenious way to introduce all the characters, and I'm looking forward to seeing the trailer next.

Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West official synopsis: After a cowardly sheep farmer (MacFarlane) backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman (Theron) rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. When her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test. The film reunites Seth MacFarlane with his Ted producers Scott Stuber and Jason Clark, as well as "Family Guy" collaborators and the film's co-writers Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin. Universal Pictures has A Million Ways to Die in the West scheduled to hit theaters on May 30th, 2014 this summer.

New Poster for Aronofsky's 'Noah' + Kronos Quarter Scoring Session

by

 Noah Poster

We're now only two months away from the long-awaited release of Darren Aronofsky's new movie, Noah, starring Russell Crowe as Noah of the biblical Noah's Ark story. Yahoo has debuted another new IMAX poster for Noah, featuring Crowe standing tall as the rain falls around. And that's about it. At least he has a hatchet in his hand. Is that Biblically accurate? It doesn't really matter. In related news, Aronofsky has been working on recording the score for Noah with his long-time collaborator Clint Mansell. The two have been sharing photos on their respective Twitter accounts of the work going into this, including a shot of them collaborating again with the Kronos Quartet from The Fountain score. Just another latest update for now.
Up first, here's the new poster for Aronofsky's Noah, originally from Yahoo. This is being released in IMAX.

 Noah Teaser Poster

Here are photos as tweeted by Aronofsky showing them recording the score for Noah with Clint Mansell, also working with the Kronos Quartet, a group of musicians that worked on the score for Aronofsky's The Fountain and Requiem for a Dream. I'm anxious to hear how this score sounds once it all comes together.

Paul Walker Takes a Leap Out the Window on 'Brick Mansions' Poster

by
 Brick Mansions

Not too long ago, we highlighted a couple photos from Brick Mansions, one of the final films featuring a performance by the late Paul Walker. The film sees the Fast & Furious star in action thriller mode as he fights against a ticking clock film about an undercover cop (Walker) tasked with going into a tenement named Brick Mansions in order to disarm a neutron bomb ticking down. It looks like there will at least one explosion since the first poster for the film (a remake of District B13) has arrived and features illustrated versions of Walker and his co-star David Belle jumping out of a building window from a big fireball.

Brick Mansions is directed by Camille Delamarre and written by Luc Besson and Bibi Naceri as a remake of their original film District B13. The film follows an undercover detective (Paul Walker) chasing a weapon of mass destruction that was stolen by a drug dealer in the ghetto known as Brick Mansions. But in order to track him down, the detective must seek the help of Lino (David Belle) an incredibly agile man who knows Brick Mansions better than anyone and is the only person not cowering in fear of the resident drug dealers. RZA also stars in the film which Relativity and EuropaCorp will release later this spring on April 25th.

You're Welcome: The First Poster for Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

by
 Guardians of the Galaxy

It's been a week full of Guardians of the Galaxy hype from the first fantastic trailer that was released on Tuesday to today's featurettes showing off Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon and Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Vin Diesel talking about their wild space superhero characters from the forthcoming Marvel film. Now it seems the hype machine is finally slowing down with the first official poster landing, showing off the galactic misfits looking like a group of bad asses on some alien planet. The whole deal is sealed by that awesome tagline, not to mention Marvel name-dropping their own franchises.
Here's the first official poster for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy from Marvel.

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn (Slither, Super). Brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand. The Marvel Studios film arrives in theaters August 1st, 2014.

Anthony Mackie Gets a 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Poster

by
Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Following that potentially spoilerish TV spot for Captain America: The Winter Soldier that teases a big character death, we have a new poster showing off one of the new supporting characters. Robert Redford already got his own poster showing off his S.H.I.E.L.D. head character Alexander Pierce, and now one of the new heroes gets the spotlight. Anthony Mackie plays Cap's new sidekick Falcon, and the trailers have already shown him flying around and getting into the thick of the action, but now he and his bad ass wings get their own poster. We're pretty sure the sequel will top Thor: The Dark World and shake everything up.
Here's the new poster for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo ("Community" and "Arrested Development") with a script from Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World). Chris Evans reprises his role as Captain America, still struggling to adjust to present day life, when a powerful new enemy emerges. Scarlett Johansson also returns in the film as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff along with Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Robert Redford, Frank Grillo and Sebastian Stan. Disney will release the Marvel sequel in theaters next spring starting
 April 4th.

Gimp Creeps Us Out on Poster for Nacho Vigalondo's 'Open Windows'

by
Open Windows

Last fall we caught a trailer for Nacho Vigalondo's interesting thriller Open Windows starring Elijah Wood. The film is poised to premiere at SXSW next Monday, March 10th, and we have a creepy new poster for the film with a gimp framing a shot for his body-mounted camera. For those who don't know the film follows Wood as Nick, a fanboy of actress Jill Goddard (Sasha Grey) who has won an online contest to have dinner with her. But when the plans get canceled, a stranger named Chord tries to make up for the loss by allowing Nick to spy on Jill from his computer, all leading to a much more sinister plan in mind.

Jill (Sasha Grey) is a famous actress who has refused to have dinner with Nick (Elijah Wood), a fan who won a date with her in an Internet contest organized by the distributor of her latest film. In return, a guy named Chord (Neil Maskell), posing as Jill's campaign manager, tries to help Nick by letting him watch her through his computer. But the superfan soon realizes he's just a pawn in a dangerous game devised by Chord in order to hunt down the star. Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial, The ABCs of Death) writes and directs Open Windows premieres at SXSW next month and hits theaters and VOD sometime in 2014.

First Poster for Tom Hardy's Thriller 'Locke' Before Trailer Tomorrow

by
Locke

Our first glimpse at the thriller Locke came in the form of a trailer from the United Kingdom where the film hits theaters a week early, but tomorrow we'll get the first domestic trailer for the Venice Film Festival selection starring Tom Hardy. However, this thriller is unique in that it's set entirely in a car and unfolds in real time. Our own Alex Billington caught the film at Sundance and said, "This is one of those must see it to believe it unique concepts for a film, and it's actually pretty damn good." We're anxious to see just what the trailer can show off since it's all set in this one car, but until that arrives, see the poster below.
Locke is written and directed by Steven Knight (director of Hummingbird and writer of Eastern Promises). Ivan Locke (Tom Hardy) is an obsessive perfectionist, respected by his coworkers and loved by his bosses. He cherishes the bond he shares with his two sons and the unshakeable partnership he has developed with his wife; it's an ideal existence built with painstaking care. But hours before the biggest day of his career, Locke receives a phone call that threatens to destroy the life he has worked so meticulously to create. Locke premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2013 and A24 Films releases the film in US theaters April 24th.

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Gives the Title Villain a Poster

by
Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Following yesterday's revealing extended TV spot for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, one more new character poster has popped up, and we imagine this will be the last one. This time it's the title villain in the Marvel sequel getting his own poster, and while some may not know the history of The Winter Soldier, all you have to do is know that Sebastian Stan plays the villain, and figure out what other key role that actor might have had in the Marvel cinematic universe to see why this villain will really impact Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). He certainly looks like a force to be reckoned with, especially with that sniper rifle.
Disney will release the Marvel sequel in theaters next spring starting April 4th.

Johnny Depp is Still Loading on Pixelated New 'Transcendence' Poster

by
Transcendence

This spring, Johnny Depp will become one with a computer in Transcendence, and the second trailer for the directorial debut from cinematographer Wally Pfister certainly showed off the scale of this technological thriller. The film isn't too far away from hitting theaters, and now the hype machine is getting a little more generic and safe in trying to get audiences interested. A new poster has just arrived and it makes full use of Depp's handsome face, but almost as if the poster was accessed by dial-up, half of the image is pixelated. I still think this film feels like a 90s thriller with contemporary technology, but we'll see.
Here's the new poster for Wally Pfister's Transcendence from Yahoo:
Transcendence

Transcendence is directed by Wally Pfister (cinematographer on Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy) and written by Jack Paglen, with rewrites by Alex Paraskevas & Jordan Goldberg. Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. When anti-technology extremists threaten his life, they inadvertently trigger a quick move towards his transcendence, and Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. Warner Bros will be releasing Transcendence in theaters starting on April 18th

The Enemy Arrives in 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' IMAX Poster

 by

 Transformers: Age of Extinction

Following the full trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction, along with the poster featuring Optimus Prime standing like Lancelot with a sword, we have a new IMAX poster for the pseudo-reboot and sequel in the Hasbro toy film franchise. This one simply takes a shot from the trailer where the enemy arrives near Mark Wahlberg's farm and begins wreaking havoc on Earth again, and just puts it in the frame of a poster. It's a cool shot, but there were plenty of quick glimpses in the aforementioned trailer that felt like they were straight out of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, but that's Michael Bay for you. See the poster!
Here's the IMAX poster for Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction from Yahoo

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Michael Bay is again directing Transformers 4, or Transformers: Age of Extinction, from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, as his last film in the blockbuster series before handing the franchise off to another director. No plot details are known yet, but Bay says, "We start four years later and there’s a reason why we’re meeting a new cast. We keep the 'Transformers' the way they were. It’s just four years later. There’s a reason the Transformers are redesigned. We’re trying to broaden the franchise and give it more places to go." The new cast this time around includes Mark Wahlberg, T.J. Miller, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing. Transformers: Age of Extinction hits June 27th this summer.

Angelina Jolie Spreads Wings as 'Maleficent' in New Teaser & Banner

 by

 Maleficent

"All the other fairies fly, why don't you?" Following a couple new posters for the Disney villain tale Maleficent, we have a new banner and teaser poster taking flight with Angelina Jolie spreading her wings as the Sleeping Beauty sorceress. The banner just shows off the impressive wingspan, but the new teaser gives us even more background information of how Maleficent came to be so evil, and it might have something to do with someone stealing her wings. While I'm concerned this will turn out like another bland revision in the vein of Snow White and the Huntsman, hopefully Jolie will make this work. Watch and see!

 Maleficent

Robert Stromberg (a production designer on Alice in Wonderland and Avatar) is making his directorial debut with Maleficent from a script written by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast). Angelina Jolie plays the title villain from the classic Disney film Sleeping Beauty in this live-action spin that also stars Sharlto Copley (District 9), Elle Fanning (Super 8), Sam Riley (On the Road), Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Juno Temple (Atonement) and more. Disney sends Maleficent to theaters everywhere in 3D on May 30th, 2014

'The Great Gatsby' Meets 'Cloud Atlas' on 'Jupiter Ascending' Posters

by

Jupiter Ascending

A new trailer for Jupiter Ascending, the latest sci-fi endeavor from Andy & Lana Wachowski, should be arriving anytime now. In the meantime, the first posters for the hopeful summer blockbuster have arrived, and they're not all that convincing. Since the first trailer seemed a bit odd, and the Japanese trailer didn't improve that vibe much, Warner Bros. has a lot of convincing to do in order to get butts in the seats for this original sci-fi flick. Otherwise, the Wachowskis just might have another flop on their hands (which might be why The Matrix is rumored for a reboot). The two posters feature stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, but the aesthetic is an odd, fantasy mix of The Great Gatsby and Cloud Atlas marketing. Look!
Here are the two new posters for Andy & Lana Wachowski's Jupiter Ascending from IMP Awards:

Jupiter Ascending
Jupiter Ascending is written and directed by filmmaker siblings Andy Wachowski & Lana Wachowski, the duo behind Bound, the Matrix trilogy, Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas just last year. Official synopsis: In a universe where humans are near the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, a young destitute human woman is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her very existence threatens to end the Queen's reign. The cast includes Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, James D'Arcy and Doona Bae. Warner Bros will open Jupiter Ascending in theaters everywhere July 18th this summer, right after Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Watch the original US trailer. "Some lives will always matter more than others."

New 'Maleficent' Banner Shows Off the Kingdom & More Creatures

by
Maleficent

Taking a cue from the annoyingly similar banners for Oz: The Great and Powerful and Alice in Wonderland, Disney has decided to deliver a banner poster for Maleficent that shows off more than just Angelina Jolie and her horns. Like the aforementioned Disney marketing pieces, this banner shows off a lot of the kingdom, including some creatures we've yet to see in the trailers. In addition to the banner, a French poster has also surfaced that basically takes the same image and puts it in a more narrow frame, but adds the three colorful fairies into the mix. Plus there's Elle Fanning as Sleeping Beauty too. Check out both posters! Disney sends Maleficent to theaters everywhere in 3D on May 30th, 2014 this summer. Visit the film's official website. Excited?

Huge Batch of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Posters Are Pretty Stylish

by
X-Men: Days of Future Past

Following yesterday's batch of feaurettes from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past, a whole batch of photos have surfaced online today. However, since they were discovered by a forum user at Superhero Hype, we're not exactly sure if these are official posters, or just unused concepts, mostly because some of them seem incomplete without studio logos, a release date, etc. Some of them are really stylish, while others are pretty bland. The prominence of Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique is interesting though. Is Warner Bros. just capitalizing on her Hunger Games popularity, or is she just as prominent as Hugh Jackman? Look!
Here's the posters discovered in the forums at Superhero Hype (via ComingSoon):
X-Men: Days of Future PastX-Men: Days of Future PastX-Men: Days of Future PastX-Men: Days of Future PastX-Men: Days of Future PastX-Men: Days of Future Past

What's really odd to me is that the above official posters feel like they're two random picks out of a bigger batch of characters posters. A few of the other posters also give off the same vibe. If any film was to have a myriad of character posters, the sheer size of the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past would be justified.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is directed by Bryan Singer and written by Matthew Vaughn and Simon Kinberg. The sequel features cast members from the original X-Men franchise like Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Daniel Cudmore along with X-Men: First Class cast members like James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Michael Fassbender. The present day X-Men are in danger from a mistake in the past, and Wolverine is sent back in time to fix it in order to avoid a dark, terrifying future timeline. Fox will release the sequel on May 23rd.

Cult Horror Franchise Returning with 'Phantasm V' Teaser & Poster

by
Phantasm V: Ravager

For fans of the somewhat obscure horror franchise Phantasm, we have some surprisingly good news. The last film in the franchise went straight to video back in 1998, but 16 years later, a fifth film in the series is on the way. And we don't mean that it's in development, because the film is already done, having been shot over the past couple years. And if that's not enough good news, there's already a teaser trailer and poster to whet your appetite. And for those who are big fans, you'll be happy to know that Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister, Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury and Kat Lester are all returning for this one. Watch it!

The franchise's director Don Coscarelli co-wrote and oversaw the film, but this time David Hartman ("Transformers Prime" and Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem music video) was in the director's chair. The producer said:
"I felt it was time to let someone else play with my train set. David and I go back to my film Bubba Ho-Tep. He did terrific visual effects on that, and more recently created a wild animated sequence and some amazing visual effects in my most recent film, John Dies at the End. Our aesthetics are in sync and he’s quite an experienced director in his own right."
Meanwhile, Hartman adds:
"Having worked with Don [Coscarelli] before, and being a huge fan of the entire Phantasm franchise, it was a great honor to do 'Ravager' with him. This film is a real turning point in the series. There's real closure for the core characters that I hope fans will respond to. We were fortunate to shoot amazing new sequences with horror icon Angus Scrimm—he has terrific scenes with Reggie (Bannister) and Mike (Michael Baldwin) that are truly powerful.”
The Phantasm series is quite revered among horror fans, and Coscarelli knew that:
"The 'Phantasm' films have been a guerrilla operation for decades now, totally outside of the studio system. We do them for the fans, and I think Ravager will definitely please them. In the past few years several studios have made offers to remake 'Phantasm' with large budgets, but the fans were very vocal that they wanted the original cast to return and finish this iteration of the story with class. And for the first time there’s an extended sequence on the Tall Man’s home world. I know 'Phantasm' fans will be as excited as I am to see it.”
We're just happy to see someone like Coscarelli keep the spirit of his films intact and not give in to the studio system and desire to remake everything. Phantasm V: Ravager follows Reggie Bannister (a veteran of all five films) in his decades-long pursuit of the malevolent Tall Man, and it finally forces him to confront the mysteries at the heart of the Phantasm saga. And as we said, Angus Scrimm, Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury and Kat Lester are all back as well along with new characters, but there's no release date yet.

Focus Features Indie Sci-Fi 'The Signal' Trippy Second Poster Arrives

by
The Signal
Just after the viral marketing for the indie sci-fi flick The Signal kicked off last week, we got the first trailer for the film that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. Now a second poster has arrived for the film, and it's pretty trippy. A walking, radiation-suited figure (maybe Laurence Fishburne) is given a kaleidoscopic effect, and it's just a stylish image that catches the eye and even creates a bit of mystery. This is such a cool movie, and we hope audiences will seek it out this summer and enjoy the ominous feel, the twists and turns, and just an original sci-fi flick amongst a pool of franchises, sequels and reboots. Look!
Here's the new poster for William Eubank's The Signal from Focus Features.

The Signal is directed by William Eubank (Love), who also co-wrote the script with newcomers Carlyle Eubank and David Frigerio. Nick (Brenton Thwaites) and Jonah (Beau Knapp) are MIT freshmen and serious hackers. While driving through Nevada with Nick’s girlfriend, Hailey (Olivia Cooke), they follow rival hacker Nomad’s clues to a location 180 miles away. After a terrifying confrontation with Nomad in the desert, the trio regain consciousness in captivity, are forced to confinement and discover they are part of something unbelievable. Focus Features releases the Sundance selected film in limited theaters June 13th.

See Awesome Early Designs for Unused Official Posters for 'Gravity'

by
Though the mind-blowing, sci-fi film Gravity didn't take home Best Picture, director Alfonso Cuaron still walked away with an Oscar for his work behind the camera, and it was well-deserved. And while the film is kind of old news now as we move on to the releases of 2014, there's still some cool stuff surfacing surrounding the impressive piece of cinema. In this case, Framestore, who was responsible for the insane visual effects that ran through the entirety of the film, crafted a bunch of poster designs to promote the film, but only a few were used. io9 has rounded up a bunch of the preliminary design sketches, and they even have the old 2012 release date, which just goes to show you how far in advance these kind of plans begin.
Here's some of the rough, unused official poster designs for Gravity (see the rest at Framestore):
GravityGravityGravityGravity

Gravity is directed by visionary Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón (watch our interview here), of Great Expectations, Y Tu Mamá También, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the sci-fi Children of Men previously. The screenplay was written by Alfonso and his son Jonás Cuarón and the film stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Warner Bros. released Gravity in IMAX theaters and 3D everywhere on October 4th, and again last month, but the film arrived on Blu-Ray and DVD on February 25th. Cool?

First Posters for 'Dumb & Dumber To' Bring Back the Great Tuxedos

by
Dumb & Dumber To

Earlier this year, our first look at the comedy sequel Dumb & Dumber To arrived with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back as dimwitted best friends Lloyd and Harry. The film doesn't come out until this fall, but the first teaser posters have finally arrived, and while they don't feature Daniels or Carrey, they each have a little item everyone will recognize from the first film. It's the two ridiculous tuxedos the dumb duo wears to the fancy preservation society dinner where Harry accidentally kills an owl with a champagne cork. We hope the appearance of these posters means there's a teaser trailer not too far behind. See the two posters below!
Here's the first poster for Peter & Bobby Farrelly's Dumb & Dumber To from the film's Dumblr page:Dumb & Dumber ToDumb & Dumber To

Dumb & Dumber To is directed by Peter & Bobby Farrelly (Dumb & Dumber, There's Something About Mary) and written by Sean Anders & John Morris (Sex Drive, She's Out of My League), Mike Cerrone (Me, Myself & Irene) and Bennett Yellin (Dumb & Dumber). Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, 20 years after their last road trip, and this time they have to hit the road again to find Harry's illegitimate daughter for a kidney transplant. Laurie Holden and Kathleen Turner also star in the film which Universal Pictures will send to theaters everywhere November 14th, 2014.
